So welcome to another show. Yes I am still here. For some reason I took a break from the podcast. Well for a couple of reasons. One I have been quite busy at work. Second and youâll forgive me but I have been playing quite a bit of LotRO lately! Trying to relax in the evenings is oh such hard work. This weeks Episode will be all about the Lore-master class. Because the Lore-master has quite a lot to do this episode may be a bit longer than the rest. There are some tips that even I didnât know that I came across when researching this class. That is what I love about this game. There is so much to learn. Sometimes the Lore-master can be undervalued because it is generally a ranged class. People also may not immediately notice what a good Lore-master is doing. But ask any knowledgeable Minstrel if they would like a Lore-master to come along for a long fight and you can be almost certain that the answer will be âYes, please!â? They can do some quests that would normally require an entire fellowship. They have the ability to hide, turn and dodge damage. It makes them a very formidable class. But they arenât invincible. Script: LotROCast Episode 3, for the 11th of January 2009 â Donât forget the Captain Welcome back.Â I am going to continue my look into different classes in this series.Â Just a note for those expecting a detailed stats driven episode: not going to happen.Â These are just overview looks with some stats in there but mostly just a quick look at each class and what it can generally do.Â My aim is to really provide some information to other classes as to what might be going on.Â So that you can point someone who doesnât quite get what is going on to one of these episodes. In this episode we are going to focus on one of the more overlooked and underrated classes.Â Pay attention class because the Captain might not stand out in any one particular area but as they shore up so many different things within a group they can be vital.Â I have lost count of the number of quests that have been significantly easier with a captain around.Â So put on the uniform and stand to attention. The Captain Hi, I’m a Captain and Iâm a varied class that can melee, tank, damage and heal but not the best in any of those areas.Â I can however fill in well enough in those roles when required. I eventually get to wear heavy armour which helps with survivability.Â I can use a two-handed weapon or one handed weapon and a shield but never a heavy shield.Â I like giving my fellowship members and myself something known as buffs. These buffs improve statistics when applied so it is always a good idea to make sure I have had time to apply them, especially before a big fight.Â I can mark an opponent with a buff that can also help my fellowship or myself with the fight. I am sometimes required to rez during combat.Â By that I mean I can bring a defeated fellowship member back to life. One of my roles may be to help a minstrel as a backup in healing.Â After defeating a foe I like to use a skill called Rallying Cry as it heals the group.Â Once an enemy is defeated this skill becomes available for a limited time. If it is not clicked after a certain time it disappears until the next defeat of a foe. As a Captain I also have the ability to heal fear affecting my fellowshipÂ around me.Â As with rezzing this skill has a cool-down. I have a Herald or Banner which has extra buffs which can help in a fight. There are three and access to these come in skill levels.Â The first is Banner/Herald of War which increases might and agility, next is Banner/Herald of Hope which increases morale and in-combat morale regeneration, the last is the Banner/Herald of Victory which increases power and in-combat power regeneration. The difference between using a Herald and a Banner are; Herald <ul> <li>The Herald can only be summoned out of combat.</li> <li>is another extra hand in dealing out damage but can be defeated</li> <li>A Herald is always two levels lower then you are</li> <li>A Herald can be more difficult to manage when jumping off ledges.</li> <li>A Herald in trying to get to you or your opponent may get the attention of other enemies</li> </ul> Banner <ul> <li>The Banner can be produced before or during combat</li> <li>A Banner is only a buff and does not agro as a Herald</li> <li>The banner is easier to manage when jumping off ledges</li> </ul> As you can see the use of a Banner or Herald depends on what is needed for the [...] Hi, I'm a Captain and Iâm a varied class that can melee, tank, damage and heal but not the best in any of those areas. Each class has so many ways of playing it is impossible to try and dictate a style of play and say it is the only way. So I tread on uneven ground with some who will undoubtedly disagree and / or know better. To them I say, let me know what your reasoning is in a nice way on the website. That is if you knew the website! Go to kiwiclick.com Champion Class Hi, Iâm a Champion and I like hitting things. A Champion is a melee, DPS class. This means I am a close quarterâs combat class whose main goal is to do as much damage, quickly, to as many enemies as possible. A Champion starts off wearing medium armour but can use heavy armour at level 20 so can take a bit of damage. Champions can do, what is known as, AoE damage. This stands for Area of Effect and means that with some skills we can damage more than one enemy close by. By reading our skills carefully when we get them we will find out what ones these are. Our first real AoE damage skill is called Blade Wall and can damage enemies in front of the Champion. Later some AoE skills allow us to damage enemies 360 degrees around us. Champions have several stances they can be in but we tend to stay in only one or two stances. The main one being a stance called Fervour Stance that you get at level 4. Other stances allow you to drop damage output for more protection and as you go you will find when it is appropriate to use those. Some Champions use these other stances more often than most. Most Champions use these stances if playing solo but in a group especially with some healing and a tank we will feel far less inclined to use them [...] In this episode we talk about the champion class in Lord of the Rings Online.
